Tuck Hold on Parallel Bars

Description:

A Tuck Hold on Parallel Bars is an exercise that develops upper body and core strength.  A tuck hold is generally considered a progression skill that must be mastered before attempting an L-hold.  For best results, ensure that the knees are brought as close to the chest as possible and avoid rounding the back.  Scale by performing a standard support hold.

Process:

  • if starting on parallettes – begin in a seated position
  • if on parallel bars – begin in a support position
  • engage core and ensure that upper body is vertically stacked with shoulders over the hands
  • bend at the hips and drive knees as close to the chest as possible without rounding back
