Description:
A Tucked Planche is an upper body-based exercise designed to build the foundation and strength required to hold a straddled planche. Although the planche position is often considered to be a strength element, it is equally technical – the more you can understand the concept of the ‘shoulder lean’ and find the balance point, the less strength you will need to exert. For best results, maintain a straight back and keep the head neutral.
Process:
- begin in a tucked position on the parallel bars with hands shoulder width apart
- ensure that arms are completely locked out
- engage core and lift feet off ground by pushing down on the parallel bars and bringing the knees as close to the chest as possible
- back should be straight and head in a neutral position
- find the balance point by leaning forward and adjusting shoulder position
